I LOVE the training. Every single part of it.
The missed reps, the PRs, the muscle aches, the bloody shins, the sore shoulder, the sweat, the nerves, the one minute faster gain, the dizziness, the hunger.
I love it all.
Competition is great, but I love the journey.
Every morning I walk out to my garage, I'm so nervous I'm nearly dizzy.
I'm nervous because I know what I'm about to go through.
Doubt is relentlessly whispering into my thoughts.
'Can I do this?
Maybe I should go lighter or slower?
Why am I doing this?
It's too cold?
No one else is training in this heat.
I'm sore.
I deserve to rest.'
I set my weights. Try my grip. Feel my rings. Spin my rope.
As my heart beat quickens another voice begins to speak.
'Go! Don't think just do! Now!'
Like a light switch thrown on in a dark room, complete clarity.
I know what must be done.
3-2-1-GO!
