In June of 2008 Central Washington University's Womens softball team was one game behind Western Oregon in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference race. At stake was a bid to the NCAA'S Division II playoffs. Western had won the first game, 8-1. Central had to win the second game to have any chance for a postseason.
Western's right-fielder, Sara Tucholsky, came up with two runners on in the second inning. What happened next was a unique display of sportsmanship.
