Strong AND Courageous
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
-Joshua 1:9
Strong and Courageous.
This has been and will always been my favorite verse.
To be strong AND courageous. That combo can create a powerful force.
strong |strô ng |
1 having the power to move heavy weights or perform other physically demanding tasks
2 able to withstand great force or pressure
courageous |kəˈrājəs|
not deterred by danger or pain; brave
Able to withstand great force and undeterred by danger.
The definition of strong uses words like heavy, demanding, force and pressure. These are all words that describe some form of discomfort. But, also, words like power, move, perform, able and great are used.
To be strong is not to avoid pain or discomfort, but it is the ability to withstand all that you face.
The definition of courageous simply says 'not deterred by danger or pain'. Nowhere does it say, doesn't feel fear or avoiding pain.
Life is full of trials and tribulations. All feel fear. All see danger. All feel pain.
Few are Strong and Courageous.
In this life keep faith in the LORD to provide you with Strength and Courage, even when it may seem impossible to be both.
